Spring is coming...we promise! Despite the fluctuation of weather and temperatures we are right around the corner from warmth and sunlight. Spring in Maine is a beautiful time of year because people start coming out of hibernation and there are a ton of outdoor events to attend! It also means that most of us are in the middle of the "Spring Cleaning" phase. Time to make room for new seasonal items or, in some cases, just trying to minimize the "stuff " taking over your house. A fun and increasingly popular idea is to have a clothing swap party! This is great because you are getting rid of your old, unwanted items in exchange for something that is new to you and cost nothing at all. Typically if there are things left over at the end of these swaps it all gets donated to a local charity or shelter so nothing goes to waste. To get a sense of how these work check out this local sell, swap or donate event in Old Orchard Beach! WHEN: May 5th - Saturday WHERE: Jimmy The Greek's - (215 Saco Ave, Old Orchard Beach) DETAILS: Community yard sale where we can gather and sell off some of our treasures! Spring Clean your home and make a little cash! $10 will reserve your spot if you want a table for your items. To reserve a table contact Sharlene Taylor at 207-205-7333. The event is FREE to attend. Another great activity that Mainers love to do is Antique/ Vintage shopping! Rare finds and one-of-a-kind treasures make these an ideal day trip on vacation or just a spontaneous stop-in. You never know what you will find! Check out this local experience coming up THIS weekend: WHEN: April 20th thru 22nd / 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. WHERE: Brick South, 8 Thompson’s Point, Portland WHO: Vintage Bazaar New England Spring Special COST: $10, $15 weekend pass, $20 Friday night VIP, free for 16 & under. DETAILS: Fans of all things vintage, this weekend’s got your name written all over it. Vintage Bazaar New England Spring Special is a massive gathering of around 80 dealers of fabulous vintage, handcrafted and re-purposed treasures of many stripes. Food trucks will be parked and ready, and there will also be music to stimulate your shopping vibes along with a vintage-inspired photo booth. Oh, and if you find yourself parched, adult beverages will also be flowing. WEBSITE: mybazaarlife.com We would love to see your pictures or comments on your spring adventures too!
